In 1966 three people by the name of Huey Newton, Bobby Seale, and Eldridge Cleaver organized the

Black Panther Party in Oakland, California. They believed that revolution was necessary in the
United States. They also told the African Americans to arm themselves and their goal was to force the whites to give them their equal rights. The leaders of this group wanted to end the racial oppression and wanted control of major institutions in the African American neighborhoods.

Malcolm X's ideas were the cause and major influence of the Black Panther Party. This party was a new generation of militant leaders who preached constantly black power and black nationalism.
